Now that you are deploying an application with a YAML configuration file, it is important to understand the configuration format of Deployment, and other Controller (such as DaemonSet) are very similar.

Taking nginx-deployment as an example, the configuration file is shown in the following figure:

① apiVersion is the version of the current configuration format.

② kind is the type of resource to be created, in this case Deployment.

③ metadata is the metadata for this resource, and name is a required metadata item.

The ④ spec section is the specification for the Deployment.

⑤ replicas indicates the number of copies, which defaults to 1.

⑥ template defines the template for Pod, which is an important part of the configuration file.

⑦ metadata defines the metadata for Pod, at least one label. The key and value of label can be specified at will.

⑧ spec describes the specification of Pod. This section defines the properties of each container in Pod. Name and image are required.

This nginx.yml is the simplest Deployment configuration file, which we will enrich step by step as we learn about the features of Kubernetes.

Execute kubectl apply-f nginx.yml:

Deployment, ReplicaSet, Pod are all in place. If you want to delete these resources, execute kubectl delete deployment nginx-deployment or kubectl delete-f nginx.yml.
