After the deployment of VCSA 6.5 in the previous article, we still need to do some preparatory work to turn on the high availability features. This article focuses on how to prepare for the high availability of vCenter.

Configure the vCenter HA network

As you can see from the vCenter HA architecture diagram, a dedicated HA network is required for high availability of vCenter HA and must be on a different subnet from the management network. A HA network can be understood as a heartbeat network in a cluster.

Because VDS is used in the environment where VCSA is stored, a port group is specially created for vCenter HA. And set the corresponding VLAN (this VLAN is different from the management network)

Next, you will add a network card to the VCSA you just deployed, and the automatic port group is the port group you just created.

Next, open the management interface of the device and connect with https://FQDN:5480.

Navigate to Network Management in the VCSA device management interface to see that the newly added Nic is currently off (not enabled); click Edit

Enable this network card and set the IP address for it

Finally, make sure that the address information of the network card is configured correctly and the status is started.

Enable SSH login

The SSH of VCSA must be enabled to configure vCenter HA, and its status can be viewed by navigating to access.

Click the edit box to check "enable SSH login"
