The lvmetad command starts the LVM metadata cache daemon.

Normally, the lvmetad command keeps the cache up-to-date by processing reminder messages from the client and uevents from the system. When other hosts change the metadata on disk, you should also make the native lvmetad metadata cache obsolete.

When a command sends a request to get metadata to the lvmetad command, the lvmetad command returns the metadata with a cache "invalid" flag. The command first checks this flag after receiving the response, and if it is invalid, it scans the disk for the latest metadata. Finally, send the latest metadata to the lvmetad command, and clear its "invalid" flag, followed by a new command to get the metadata is the latest metadata.
