CTOnews.com, December 7, AMD launched the 7040 series of mobile processors earlier this year, enabling a brand new orange sticker. Today, AMD released the 8040 series of vest processors, CPU and core display the same as the 7040 series, NPU upgrade to achieve higher AI performance. AMD has also introduced new stickers for the 8040 series, highlighting AI.

As previously reported by CTOnews.com, the AMD Ruilong 8040 series of mobile processors still use Zen4 CPU cores and RDNA3 kernel display. NPU seems to have improved performance through overclocking, increasing its computing power from 10 TOPS to 16 TOPS.

In terms of naming, take the R7 8840 series processor as an example, which is the vest of the R7 7840 series processor and is now divided into three models: R7 8840U, R7 8840HS and R7 8845HS. The three parameters are the same, but the power consumption settings are different, which are 15-30W, 20-30W and 35-54W respectively.

The flagship model of this series of processors is R9 8945HS, with 8 cores and 16 threads, with an acceleration rate of 5.2 GHz and a core display of Radeon 780m, which is consistent with the old R9 7940HS.

The entry-level models R3 8440U and R5 8540U have 4 cores and 6 cores respectively, equipped with 740m kernel display, without XDNA NPU, and should still be a mixed architecture of Zen4 + Zen4c.

The AMD 8040 series of vest processors will be launched in the first quarter of 2024.
