CTOnews.com, December 19, the Linux 6.8 mainline kernel will support booting directly on Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC without any additional patches.

Embedded Linux developer Neil Armstrong posted on Mastodon that all relevant adapters of Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 are queued in their respective "- next" branches, and the Linux 6.8 mainline will be launched directly on Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

This adaptation plan is sent to Linus for review merge in the next Linux merge window within two to three weeks.

However, CTOnews.com warned that this is only about SoC support, devices such as phones with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 still need to add their own device tree files to the kernel, and other peripheral drivers also need additional support.
