A Guide to Generative AI Technology Applications in Publishing

Scope This document specifies the basic principles, main application scenarios and corresponding safeguard measures for the application of generative artificial intelligence technology in the publishing industry. This document applies to services provided by publishing organizations applying generative artificial intelligence technology.

Normative references The contents of the following documents constitute essential provisions of this document through normative references in the text. For dated references, only the version corresponding to the date applies to this document; for undated references, the latest version (including all modification orders) applies to this document.

Terms and definitions as defined in CY / T 96 and the following terms and definitions apply to this document.

Generative artificial intelligence technology A natural language processing technology that automatically generates text, images, sounds, videos, codes, etc. based on algorithms, models, and large-scale corpus.

Service provider An organization or individual that provides generative artificial intelligence services to the public in China in the form of interactive interfaces and programmable interfaces.

Transparency In the process of applying generative AI technologies, all participants, including publishers and service providers, should understand and clearly disclose the use of AI content generation, including the underlying dataset, data sources and data processing methods.

Fairness carefully evaluates and examines potential sources of data and content bias in training data selection, algorithm design, model generation and optimization, and usage, while reducing cultural or linguistic inequities in AI-generated content.

Accuracy The data sources for pre-training and optimization training using artificial intelligence technology should be accurate, objective in description and diverse in data to avoid false information and misleading content dissemination.

Advanced publishing organizations select service providers with advanced AI-generated content technologies and algorithmic models, i.e., the service providers have core algorithm metrics (such as parameter size) and authoritative evaluation scores that reach the leading level in the industry.

Applicability The AI-generated content technologies and tools provided by service providers should meet the publishing organization's needs for content resource management and application. Value publishing organizations provide artificial intelligence generated content with a certain ideological, artistic, intellectual, logical and scientific nature.

The main application scenario information collection is based on market demand or topic selection planning, and the ability of generative artificial intelligence technology in information search and information integration is used to select appropriate content for publication.

The generative artificial intelligence technology basic model used by the model security service provider shall be filed by the competent national department; the users of the service provided and the use of the third-party basic model shall be disclosed; the security analysis of the user input information and the evaluation of the accuracy of the generated content shall be strengthened to ensure the model security of the service provider.

Data security When applying generative artificial intelligence technology, effective encryption and control means shall be used for data processing, transmission and access in accordance with relevant state regulations to ensure data security and protect personal privacy.

Network security According to relevant national regulations, corresponding firewall, network monitoring tools, identity verification measures, interface security, intrusion detection and other network security measures shall be configured.

System Security When providing generative artificial intelligence technology services, service providers must comply with relevant national regulations and have safe system architecture design, operating system and hardware security guarantees and application programs to ensure the safe and stable operation of the system.
